I would be lying if I didnt’ tell you guys about how much these flared sleeves remind me of Dave Chappelles skit of Prince in the early 2000s. The skit is about a story of Prince challenging Charlie Murphy (Eddie Murphys brother) to a basketball game wearing a blouse with bell sleeves. You know the shirts that Prince practically lived in during the 90s. And there’s one scene when Prince (played by Chappelle) says “blouses” right after making a scoring shot in the game that makes me crack up every time I think about it. So imagine how many times I repetead that scene while wearing this outfit. All I can say is that my photographer started to get annoyed after 10 th time she heard me repeating it during our photoshoot!
Isn’t it funny how we trigger some memories by the pieces we wear? Like todays 80 s and 90s inspired trends. It’s like we get to travel back in time, relive old memories and feelings we had completely forgotten about. I remember as a kid seeing flared blouses on relatives and family friends and thinking it was the coolest thing out there. Allthough the style back then consisted of drastic colors and prints, I am hoping that this trend stays a little more minimal this time around. Im never for the overly dramatic looks, I kind of like it clean and minimal with a touch of elegance.
